Charmed's Alyssa Milano has celebrated the life of the late Rebecca Balding, who played Elise Rothman in the original supernatural series.

It's reported by Deadline that Balding lost her life aged 73 on Monday (July 18), in Utah's Park City, following a battle with ovarian cancer. In Charmed, Elise was a newspaper editor-in-chief and the boss of Milano's Phoebe Halliwell.

Balding also had credits on shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, ER, MacGyver and Home Improvement across her 29-year screen career.

Posting a shot of them both together on Instagram, Milano wrote: "Rebecca Balding was not only a wonderful actress, she was such a good person. I loved every minute I got to spend with her on Charmed.

"I have such fond memories of Rebecca and her husband, Jim [L Conway], dancing at our wrap parties! My heart goes out to all who loved her. I feel so honoured that our paths crossed in this lifetime. Rest In Peace."

The Phoebe Halliwell star's followers were quick to pay their respects, with two fans replying: "This is so sad, she was phenomenal. RIP" and "What a pity. I'm so sorry".

"Omg... so sad. Loved her in every episode, especially when she said she had an emergency and Phoebe had to run the paper! And turned out she was out having drinks! Xoxo," read another tribute, while a fourth individual shared: "You have the most kindest heart Alyssa! She was such a beautiful person!

"I loved her as Elise in Charmed, she was a wonderful woman and actress she'll forever be in our hearts! RIP Rebecca."

Back in May, it was announced that The CW had decided to pull the plug on its Charmed reboot after four seasons, due in part to the show's 650,000 weekly viewers – down 40,000 from the year prior.
