Yahoo News American Horror Story star Cheyenne Jackson joins impressive cast for LGBTQ+ series Equal
American Horror Story star Cheyenne Jackson has signed on for new LGBTQ+ docuseries Equal.
According to Deadline, Jackson is set to play Dale Jennings, an activist, playwright and author who was among the founding members of the Mattachine Society, one of America's earliest gay rights groups, back in the early 1950s.
After being arrested on sex charges, Jennings fought the case and had it dismissed, marking a monumental moment in the continued struggle for equality.

The actor, who appeared in the Hotel, Roanoke, Cult and Apocalypse instalments of the aforementioned anthology show, joins a plethora of TV talent too, including Orange is the New Black's Samira Wiley, Sense8's Jamie Clayton, and Star Trek: Discovery's Anthony Rapp.
Sara Gilbert (Roseanne), Shannon Purser (Stranger Things), Heather Matarazzo (The L Word), Theo Germaine (The Politician), Alexandra Grey (Empire), former America's Next Top Model contestant Isis King and Gale Harold (Queer as Folk) will also appear.
The Conductor's Scott Turner Schofield, Dexter's Anne Ramsay, Pose's Hailie Sahar, Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy), Cole Doman (Uncle Frank), Sam Pancake (Dumplin'), The Walking Dead's Elizabeth Faith and The Flash's Keiynan Lonsdale round out the star-studded cast.
Produced by Arrowverse boss Greg Berlanti, Godzilla's Jon Jashni and The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons for HBO Max, Equal will see the actors portray prominent figures throughout queer history.
The rise of The Daughters of Bilitis organisation, the 1966 Compton Cafeteria riots in San Francisco, the Stonewall demonstrations and the beginning on the Pride movement are just a few of the milestones the four-parter is geared up to cover.
Equal will premiere in the US on HBO Max in October 2020.
