SIR Andrew Lloyd Webber’s West End and Broadway hit musical School of Rock arrives at Mayflower Theatre next week.

School of Rock is the global hit musical with a book by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes based on the iconic movie starring Jack Black.

Wannabe rock star Dewey Finn is cast out by his bandmates and finds himself in need of cash. Posing as a substitute music teacher at an elite prep school, he exposes his students to the rock gods he idolises, transforming them into a mind-blowing rock band.

It features 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, all the original songs from the movie, and a band of talented kids that play live every show.

Jake Sharp, who stars as Dewey, told the Daily Echo: "It’s completely joyous. It's inclusive, positive and optimistic."

Tickets for the show, which runs from Monday (July 18) to Saturday, are on sale now from mayflower.org.uk
