Anita Dobson no longer watches 'EastEnders'.

Although the 73-year-old actress played one of the soap's most memorable characters, Queen Vic landlady Angie Watts, from 1985 to 1988, Anita admitted she no longer tunes in to see what is happening in Albert Square.

She told The Star newspaper: "I haven't seen EastEnders for quite a long time. I don't watch TV much. I don't have time - I'm too busy. I don't move in the world of soaps anymore."

Angie's stormy marriage with her womanising husband, 'Dirty' Den Watts was a huge hit with viewers and featured a dramatic moment in the Christmas Day 1986 episode when a record-breaking 30.1 million viewers watched Den serve Angie divorce papers.

Anita left the soap in 1988 and Angie died off-screen in April 2002 when she died of cirrhosis of the liver.

Along with 'EastEnders', Anita has appeared on screen in 'Red Dwarf', 'Split Ends', 'Hotel Babylon' and 'The Last Detective'.

She has been married to Queen guitarist Brian May since 2000 and Brian credits Anita with saving his life after he suffered a heart attack in 2020.

He previously said: "She totally saved my life because I couldn’t do anything and she just kind of nursed me, so I will forever be in her debt, she did an incredible job on me.

"I’ve walked out with a heart that’s very strong – I feel I’m in good shape for years to come.

"Anyway, I didn’t die. I’m incredibly grateful that I now have a life to lead again. I’m good, I’m here, and I’m ready to rock."
