Fellow electronic music producers Dedmau5 and Skrillex have paid tribute to Avicii.

The Swedish musician – real name Tim Bergling – was found dead on Friday (20 April) in Oman at the age of 28. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Deadmau5, who publicly feuded with Avicii on multiple occasions, posted a message to Twitter reading: “My sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to the friends, fans and families of Avicii. Banter aside, nobody can deny what he has accomplished and done for modern dance music and I’m very proud of him.”

He continued in another message: “I would have enjoyed nothing more than ripping into Avicii well into and beyond our 60’s. Taken away from us far too young. I know he’s at peace somewhere up there getting the last laugh that I spelled his name right this time.”

Skrillex, who previously remixed Avicii’s worldwide hit “Levels”, also posted a tribute to social media, calling the artist a “a genius and an innovator, yet sensitive and humble.”

Others artists to have paid tribute include Calvin Harris, Kaskade, Craig David, and many more.

Avicii’s publicist Diana Baron confirmed the hit-maker’s death in a statement: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.

“He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
