BBC Breakfast host Steph McGovern has confirmed reports she is expecting a baby with her girlfriend.

The Sun on Sunday reported the news via a source today, and the popular host has taken to social media to confirm she ‘with child’.

The 37-year-old denied she was pregnant last year, when she tweeted: “For those who are congratulating me on my 'pregnancy'. I am not 'with child', I am 'with pot belly'.” She ended the tweet with a pig emoji.

The tweet had McGovern’s followers laughing at her self-deprecating humour, and the presenter referenced the tweet today (14 July), when she confirmed the Sun’s reports: “I see my news is out! Yep, I am no longer with pot belly...... I am now with child.” She finished the tweet with a pregnant woman emoji and the hashtag #BabyOnBoard.

A source close to McGovern told the Sun the star and her partner were ‘absolutely thrilled’ at the news.

The source said: “Steph and her girlfriend are absolutely thrilled.

“Everyone at the Beeb is delighted too - she is one of the most popular faces on and off the red sofa.

The source also revealed the star, whose partner is a TV executive: ‘suffered really badly with morning sickness’ adding: “She was sick recently, just seconds before going on air.”

McGovern has previously addressed people assuming she was pregnant was just part of ‘life on camera’, saying: “I’d definitely be in the wrong job if I got offended by comments like that.

“Even my own auntie asked me once if I was pregnant after seeing me on the telly that’s just life on camera.”

It is believed McGovern will give birth in November.
