BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood hit the deck this morning (September 20) when a guide dog named Flash went rogue.

Introducing the labrador puppy to viewers, she began: "Now, she's a friend of the programme. She was actually on the programme on April 28 with her trainer, Mel, and she took a little bit of a nibble out of Mel's hand when she was only 18-weeks-old.

"She's grown a bit since then and she's very well behaved I must say as well, and just gorgeous."

This opening monologue was soon flipped on its head when Flash tugged at her lead, dragging the TV star to the ground.

Reacting to the live feed from the BBC studio, co-host Dan Walker exclaimed: "We've got a Kirkwood down! We've got a Kirkwood down! Someone save Carol!"

"Flash is strong!" laughed Carol whilst pulling herself back onto her knees and re-inserting an earpiece.

Dan asked if she was alright to no avail, before his colleague Sally Nugent reiterated: "We're just checking that you're okay. Are you alright?"

‘Yes!" she finally confirmed. "Yes, she's a very strong girl, Flash."

Coincidentally, this isn't the first time Carol has experienced a canine-related blunder live on BBC Breakfast.

Around 13 months ago, she was reporting from London's Greenwich Park when a slip of the tongue resulted in these words: "The sun is beating down. We've seen lots of doggers – lots of... not doggers, of course. Lots of dog walkers and joggers around here through the course of this morning."

That's what happens when you try to fit 'joggers' and 'dogs' into the same sentence.

BBC Breakfast airs weekday mornings on BBC One.
