BBC filming Strictly Come Dancing for amateurs

The BBC is working on a new primetime show that is 'Strictly Come Dancing' for amateur dancers.

The competition will be titled 'Clear The Dancefloor' and is being made by the production firm Tuesday’s Child, with filming due to kick off next month.

It's also reported that some "old stars" from the Latin and ballroom show - which was won by wildlife cameraman and presenter Hamza Yassin in 2022 - will "crop up".

A source told The Sun newspaper: “The public can’t get enough of dance shows so the Beeb is keen to keep up with demand.

“There’s a lot of hope pinned on this sparkly new show and producers are hoping it will be a big hit.

“It’s light, fun entertainment, just what viewers needs when there’s no Strictly to watch.

“Expect to see a few old Strictly stars crop up too.”

Meanwhile, Kym Marsh recently admitted her 'Strictly Come Dancing' stint taught her to give herself "more credit".

The former ‘Coronation Street’ star took part in the latest series alongside pro partner Graziano di Prima, and she was eliminated during the quarter-finals in musical week.

Recalling her time on the programme, Kym said: “I learned new skills, new things about myself, lost a fair bit of weight and met some amazing people.

“I never saw myself as someone who was up there with the best dancers, but the whole experience taught me to give myself more credit.

"I’m proud of what I achieved. I’ve always been open about my struggles with anxiety, and there were times on set where it threatened to take hold. I was nervous but discovered I could beat it and take control.

"That’s the lesson I’ll cherish most. I’ve realised how far I’m able to push myself and overcome things I might think I’m too weak to do.”

Kym - who has children, David, 27, and Emilie, 26, with ex Dave Cunliffe and Polly, 11, with ex-husband Jamie Lomas – wants to continue setting a good example for her children by working hard.

She added to Prima magazine: “I want to keep working hard, setting a good example to my kids and spending time with my grand-children.

"The past few years have been about setting my sights high and challenging myself – and I’m going to continue to do that. I want to keep testing my limits and proving my capabilities.”
