The BBC has revealed the replacements for Radio 1 and 1 Xtra DJ Charlie Sloth, after it was announced last month that he would step down from hosting The Rap Show and The 8th.

Sloth made headlines when he made a Kanye West-style stage invasion at the ARIAs, stealing the microphone from Edith Bowman and telling her "f**k your life".

While it had been announced that Charlie would be leaving his job as host of The Rap Show after 10 years on Radio 1 and 1Xtra before the ARIAs, Radio 1 and Charlie agreed following the event that he would not be presenting any further editions of both of his shows.

Now, the station has announced that KISS FM DJs Melvin Odoom, Rickie Williams and Charlie Hedges will be taking over the slot that Sloth's The 8th show aired in.

The trio, who are famous for hosting KISS FM's record-breaking breakfast show, will host the 9pm to 11pm slot on Mondays to Thursdays.

"We're so excited to be joining the Radio 1 family and bringing all our energy and entertainment to the station. Hearing a new side to us as we get to showcase the music we love," they said in a statement (via Metro).

KISS FM's managing director Steve Parkinson has wished the trio well in their new job on Twitter too, writing: "After 120 months of getting up at 4.30am, we get it! Congrats @RickieHW @Melvinodoom and @charliehedges who depart Kiss after Xmas to join Radio 1.

"No more early starts guys! Thank you for everything (and more) for ten glorious years at the helm of the Goodship Kiss."

Meanwhile, The Rap Show on Saturday nights will now be hosted by 24-year old Tiffany Calver, who becomes the first female presenter to helm the long-running show.
