Ben Shephard pays tribute after death of 'Tipping Point' contestant
Ben Shephard has told of his sadness after the death of a former Tipping Point contestant.
The TV presenter posted a message on Twitter paying tribute to Alan, who previously appeared on the popular quiz show.
He wrote: “We were so very sad to hear about Alan’s passing, he was such a gent and great fun on Tipping Point.

“I know the family were keen that his episode could be enjoyed by everyone as much as he enjoyed being a part of it!”
“My deepest sympathies to Alan’s wife and their family,” he added.

A picture of Shephard with Alan was shared on the show’s official Twitter.
“After the recording of today's programme, we spoke with Alan’s family who shared the sad news of his passing,” said the message.
“Everyone at Tipping Point would like to extend their sincerest sympathies #TippingPoint.”
No cause of death was given.

Fans of the ITV game show also posted messages on social media expressing their condolences.
“So sorry to read this news... thoughts to his family x,” one person posted.
Another said that Alan had “seemed a lovely man”.
“Aw I'm watching this now. Sad news :(,” another fan posted, while one tweeted: “I hope seeing him enjoying being a part of the show brings some comfort to all who knew him.”

Shephard has been on Tipping Point since it started in 2012.
The show sees contestants answering general knowledge questions in a bid to win money and other non-cash prizes.
Over the years, various specials have aired as well as the regular series.
