The Big Bang Theory's upcoming Dungeons and Dragons-themed episode has enlisted a host of big names to appear as guest stars.

It looks as though the casting department has truly outdone itself for the sitcom's final run, as these beautiful additions include Star Trek icon William Shatner, cult filmmaker Kevin Smith, ex-basketball pro Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Justice League star Joe Manganiello (via The Wrap).

Although no extra details are currently available, this sees Shatner follow in the footsteps of some other Star Trek key players. The late great Leonard Nimoy graced the show back in 2012, whilst George Takei, Brent Spiner and LeVar Burton (from The Next Generation) also made cameos over the years.

It's been confirmed that Big Bang regular Will Wheaton is aboard for the episode, too.

Elsewhere, Sheldon Cooper actor Jim Parsons has previously spoken out about why he's actually glad the show is coming to an end.

"It felt like we have been able to do this for so many years now, it doesn't feel like there is anything left on the table," he explained.

"Not that we couldn't keep doing it, but it feels like we've chewed all the meat off this bone. I guess at a personal level, it feels like the right time in my life.

"I don't know what's next for me. It's not like there is something specific I am aiming for. I'm firmly in my middle age now. I don't know how much longer I can wear [the T-shirts] without looking really long in the tooth. In a way, it's exciting. What is this next chapter of life?".

The Big Bang Theory airs on CBS in the US and E4 in the UK.
