Yahoo News How Big Bang Theory will cross over with Young Sheldon
The Big Bang Theory has revealed how its crossover with prequel spin-off Young Sheldon is going to work.
Earlier this month, Iain Armitage – who plays the younger version of Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) – was confirmed to be appearing in The Big Bang Theory's final season as well as Lance Barber (George) and Montana Jordan (Georgie), although at the time details were sparse.
But the official description for The Big Bang Theory's December 6 episode (in the US) shares that the crossover will happen through an old video tape.
The episode in question, titled 'The VCR Illumination', has the following synopsis: "Sheldon and Amy are still down about their theory being disproven, but a VHS tape from Sheldon's past inspires him not to give up."
A touching crossover seems very fitting given that The Big Bang Theory is ending after 12 seasons.
Parsons recently explained his decision to not continue with the popular sitcom, saying: "There is nothing about it that feels like it's too soon. But even so, this is morbid, but it reminded me of having to put a dog to sleep.
"Not that the show is sick. You know you are doing the right thing, but it is still very, very painful. Because it is a death, there's no way around it. It's not just another job ending, it's a whole way of life ending for all of us."
Co-star Johnny Galecki also said that the main cast won't get their own spin-offs.
The Big Bang Theory plays on CBS in the US and E4 in the UK.
