Binman who kicked head off snowman refuses to say sorry and says complainers are ‘snowflakes’

A binman who was fired after he was filmed kicking the head of a snowman has refused to apologise and branded his critics “snowflakes”.

Callum Woodhouse was shown delivering a roundhouse-style kick to the 6ft-tall creation, on a footpath in front of a house, in CCTV footage published by the Hereford Times.

He appears to casually deliver the kick while waiting for a bin to be emptied into the back of a refuse truck.

The incident is reported to have happened in Hampton Rise, Hereford, following the weekend’s snowfall.

Mr Woodhouse defended his actions in a Facebook post seen by the Hereford Times, in which he admitted to kicking the snowman.

“Yes I kicked the snowman. No it doesn't have feelings,” said the binman.

"Yes the people who made it (kids) have young feelings. Let's look at the bigger problem in this wold Covid-19 people have feelings about this.

"People are dropping dead by a virus. Think of it like this, that snowman wouldn't be there tomorrow, any feelings then?...no.

"I understand people made this snowman but it's gonna melt anyhow. I don’t understand why this has came to this."

When asked on Facebook if he would say people who were criticising him were "snowflakes", the binman said in response: "Yes I do totally, out of this world."

Herefordshire Council said it was “disappointed” by his conduct, adding he was an agency worker recruited to work for a council contractor, and was not directly employed by County Hall.

In a statement to the PA news agency, a Herefordshire Council spokesman said: “We are aware of this incident and are disappointed that an individual representing the council would behave in such a manner.

“The employee was a member of agency staff working on behalf of one of the council’s contractors, and he has been informed that he will not be used again.

“Information has also been circulated to all agency employees outlining the professional standards they are expected to uphold when representing a Herefordshire Council contractor.”
