Black Mirror’s season six cast has been revealed with British actor Paapa Essiedu among the cohort.

The critically acclaimed anthology series, created by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones, is expected to welcome a collection of A-listers as well as rising stars to the latest Netflix installment.

Essiedu - best known for appearing in I May Destroy You - is understood be joining Black Hawk Down actor Josh Hartnett and House of Cards star Kate Mara in the upcoming series.

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul is also reportedly among the cast as well as Danny Ramirez who starred in On My Block and Atlanta star Zazie Beetz.

According to Variety, Danish rising star Clara Rugaard has also been signed alongside Auden Thornton and Anjana Vasan.

Netflix has been approached by The Standard for further comment on the season six casting.

Revelations about the new cast came two months after it was revealed Brooker and Jones’ hit series was back in production after a three-year hiatus.

Few details have since been released about the latest dystopian series, known for having a chilling similarity to the real world.

No release date has been announced.

Although little is known about the latest installment, reports suggest season six will include more episodes than series five.

News of Black Mirror’s comeback came as welcome news to fans who initially feared that the show may not return.

The future of the show was plunged into uncertainty in January 2020 when Brooker and Jones left the production company House of Tomorrow.

The pair eventually went on to establish their own company Broke and Bones before securing a huge investment from Netflix.

Black Mirror season five was released in 2019 and featured three one-hour episodes.

The show had starring performances from Andrew Scott, Miley Cyrus, Damson Idris and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
