Yahoo News The Blacklist future beyond season 8 confirmed
The Blacklist season 9 has been given the go-ahead by NBC.
Reported by The Wrap, this news arrives during the airing of its eighth season, which was heavily delayed by the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
For fans of James Spader's central character Raymond 'Red' Reddington, this Friday's (January 29) instalment is set to be unmissable.

Previously teasing what's to come throughout season 8, show creator Jon Bokenkamp shared: "It's interesting, after seven years I think that one of the most important people in Liz's life is Ressler. They really do care about each other – and, after all they've been through as partners, how could they not?
"That relationship is evolving and will continue to evolve this season. I don't want to give anything away, but that relationship – it's going to get complicated very fast."
Meanwhile, following the death of Dom Wilkinson star Brian Dennehy last year, Bokenkamp and co-boss John Eisendrath explained why they had to recast instead of retiring the character.

"He always played a pivotal role in the mythology of the show. At the time of his passing, we were in the midst of a series of episodes, toward the end of season 7, where his central role was coming to a head, where his knowledge of Red's truths were going to be sort of the engine of the whole story.
"Because of that, we felt that we couldn't pivot away from his character, even after he passed, and do a different story, because we had not just told the story for the end of last year around him, but it had been the culmination of that year."
The Blacklist airs on NBC in the US, while UK viewers can find it on Sky One.
