Boy George looking for 'brave' actor to play him as he gives biopic update

Boy George is looking for a "brave" actor to play him in an upcoming biopic.

In a video to social media the singer said the film was due to start shooting this summer and would be entitled Karma Chameleon, after his band Culture Club's famous song.

But shared in the lighthearted clip that the fact they hadn't yet cast someone to play him was a "quite major" problem.

"We are looking for a brave young actor from anywhere in the globe to take on the role of his life and it will brilliant,” he said.

“I want to be impressed,” George added.

He also shared in the video that Daniel Mays, whom he described as one of his "favourite actors", would be playing the part of his father and hinted that Keanu Reeves could be "popping in".

The musician was born George O'Dowd in 1961 into an Irish family living in south east London. He rose to fame as Culture Club's frontman during the New Romantic era of British pop in the late 1970s and 80s.

Culture Club was formed in 1981 with original members also including Jon Moss, Roy Hay, and Mikey Craig. They produced hits like Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and I'll Tumble 4 Ya as well as Karma Chameleon.

It comes after several hit biopics have been made in recent years, including Bohemian Rhapsody which dramatised Freddie Mercury rise to international stardom and Rocketman, based on the life of Elton John.
