Boy Spends Pocket Money on 3D Printer to Make PPE for Grandmother in Care Home

A 12-year-old boy in the UK worked with local police to ensure his grandmother received a delivery of PPE — which he made on a 3D printer bought from his own pocket money.

Police said Cameron Douglas had asked via a Facebook Live Q&A session if he could send homemade PPE from his home in Northamptonshire to Swindon, where his grandmother lives in a care home.

Police advised Cameron that the journey, about two hours by road, would be prohibited due to the lockdown. However, police came up with a plan for officers from the Force’s Driver Training School to transport the PPE to their colleagues at the Wiltshire border, who would then deliver it to his grandmother.
