Esposito simply responded with “Ha!”, which put her at the forefront of abuse from spectators online.

"And in the way that it has spread, and it was towards David Spade's very outward statement about something about an ex, and I literally laughed at him because he was so bold in what he was saying, and I thought it was funny. And I'm allowed to think something is funny."

She went on to add that there are other topics in the world that “need attention”, branding the backlash “insanity”.

Esposito added: “To find that people are making judgment calls about me, or them, or the people that the comment was about is really psychotic.”

Cooper, who is dating model Irina Shayk, made headlines with his performance of hit song Shallow with Gaga, which left fans commenting on their “chemistry.”

Viewers also joked Shayk may have been left a little “jealous” by the duet.

It was later reported that Shayk had “unfollowed” Gaga ahead of her duet with Cooper on after allegedly getting “sick” of stories on their “closeness.”
