Netflix has unveiled four new additions to the cast of Bridgerton following the recent departure of star Regé-Jean Page.

Page played Simon, the Duke of Hastings, in the first season of the hit period drama.

Like the book series upon which it is based, Bridgerton will shift its focus to new characters for its second instalment. Netflix confirmed last week this meant that Page would no longer feature.

Now, actors Charithra Chandran, Shelley Conn (Liar), Calam Lynch (Derry Girls) and Rupert Young (Merlin) have been confirmed to appear in the forthcoming second season.

Netflix announced the casting on social media, revealing that Chandran will play Edwina Sharma, Kate’s younger sister and Conn will play Mary Sharma, Kate’s mother.

Lynch will play Theo Sharpe and Young has been cast as Jack.

The official Bridgerton Twitter account shared the news in a post that affected the tone of the show’s narrator, Lady Whistledown.

“Dear Readers, it seems we have a few new faces in the Ton,” it said. “Do try your best to welcome them generously. I know I certainly will...”

Season two of Bridgerton will focus primarily on Lord Anthony Bridgerton (played by Jonathan Bailey).
