BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood has revealed she has a secret boyfriend who she says is the “best thing” to ever happen to her.

The weather presenter split from her former husband Jimmy Kirkwood in 2008.

But she has now found love again with someone new.

The 59-year-old opened up about her relationship to Prima magazine.

Kirkwood did not spill too much about her mystery man but did share some of the romantic details.

“I don't want to say too much about my boyfriend, but I will say that he is very kind and very funny - he is always making me laugh. And extremely handsome, as well,” said the TV star.

Kirkwood said her boyfriend always made her a cup of tea before she headed off to work on BBC Breakfast – even though that meant being up at 2.45am.

And she shared that she often comes home to love notes from him, that to her are “worth a million red roses”.

“He is the best thing that's ever happened to me, without a shadow of a doubt,” she said.

Kirkwood – who was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015 - was married to her former husband for 18 years.

After they split, she told the Radio Times: “I found myself when I got divorced.

"I started to do things and to think, ‘I’m not going to say no, I’m going to say yes!’”
