Casey Affleck's wife Summer Phoenix 'files for divorce' after 16 years

Casey Affleck's wife Summer Phoenix has reportedly filed for divorce from the actor after 16 years together.

The Hollywood couple announced their separation last March, 10 years after they married.

In court documents obtained by People magazine, Phoenix has now filed for divorce from the Oscar-winning actor, asking for spousal support as well as joint custody of their sons.

The actress-turned-designer, 37, has two sons with 40-year-old Affleck - 12-year-old Indiana and nine-year-old Atticus.

"Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix have amicably separated. They remain very close friends," Affleck's representative said in a statement at the time.

The split comes after allegations of sexual harassment against the 40-year-old actor were settled out of court.

He was accused of getting into bed with a colleague, unsolicited and while drunk, while another colleague said she was "forced to endure uninvited an unwelcome sexual advances in the workplace".

The actor denied the accusations.

At the time, the actor said "any kind of mistreatment of anyone for any reason is unacceptable and abhorrent, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect in the workplace and anywhere else".

Affleck, who won the Best Actor Academy Award for Manchester By The Sea last year, began dating in 2000 and got married in June 2006 after the birth of their first son.

Summer Phoenix is the younger sister of actor Joaquin Phoenix, who is one of Affleck's best friends and starred in his mockumentary I'm Still Here in 2010.
