Tonight's episode of Celebrity MasterChef (August 24) saw the candidates take part in a new pairs challenge.

Following the elimination of Michelle Ackerley last night, this evening featured Martin Bayfield, Josh Cuthbert, Carol Decker and Keith Allen taking to the kitchen.

Split into two teams of two, they were tasked with cooking the same dish which had to be identical in appearance and flavour, but there was a catch: they had to communicate with each other through a wall.

Martin and Josh had to make a scotch egg and salmon quiche, while Carol and Keith were challenged with knocking up some pancakes with a blueberry and coconut compote and caramelised walnuts.

Co-host John Torode was particularly vocal about the size of Martin's scotch egg.

Still in their teams, the contestants were then sent to Tilbury Docks on the River Thames to prepare lunch for over 100 hungry workers with various tastes.

Carol and Keith prepared beef lasagne with garlic bread, mac and cheese and bread and butter pudding, while Martin and Josh served chicken, leek and mushroom pie with deep-fried potatoes and mixed vegetables, cheese and broccoli quiche and apple and mixed berry crumble with burnt custard.

Back at MasterChef HQ, the contestants had to prepare a two-course meal not just for John Torode and Gregg Wallace, but also for former contenders Emma Kennedy, Sophie Thompson and Sam Nixon.

Ultimately, it was Carol Decker and Keith Allen who fell short in the quarter-final, and they became the latest contestants to be sent home.

"I'm really sorry to go, but I'm proud of what I've done," said Carol of her elimination.

And Keith added: "I think my family won't be embarrassed."

Celebrity MasterChef airs on BBC One.
