Champions League final: Voice of Go Compare advert victim of £7,000 ticket scam

The singer who features in the Go Compare adverts has revealed he paid thousands of pounds for Champions League final tickets which he never received.

Spurs fan Wynne Evans, who features as an opera singer in the adverts, spent £7,000 on a pair of tickets for Saturday’s game in Madrid against Liverpool.

But the radio presenter said once had placed his order, the agency said they were unable to give him the tickets, and he now fears he may not get his money back.

Mr Evans, who sang before Spurs’ first game at their new stadium, told BBC News: “My 14-year-old son was distraught and heaven knows how many other fans they've mugged off.

"After I paid up, the agency emailed me to say they were not able to fulfil my order.

"It looks like they sold the tickets to me then resold them when they realised they could get a lot more for them.

"I was gutted but it hasn't put me off going - there's no way I would miss this match.

"I've been a Spurs fan since I was seven so it is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see my team in the Champions League final."

Luckily, he was given two tickets for him and son Tal by American Express, and headed to Madrid on Friday.

On Saturday afternoon, he tweeted: “Thanks for all your messages regarding losing my tickets. We are here now at the stadium very excited. When I get home I really hope to make a voice for consumers and help protect people from similar scams.”
