Channel 4 has re-commissioned No Offence for a third series, where it will delve into Far Right extremism.

The channel announced the new series of the Paul Abbott police procedural as part of a fresh round of drama commissions.

The show follows the team from Friday Street police station in Manchester, focusing on DI Viv Deering (Joanna Scanlon), as they clash with the crime underworld.

According to the synopsis, the third series will begin with the attempted assassination of a local politician by a Far Right group, which will have "devastating consequences" for the team.

"Not only is the maniac still on the loose, but the politicos are turning the situation to their advantage," the synopsis reads.

"Viv and Friday Street find themselves pawns in a political chess match, which is the last thing they need as incidents of hate crime soar in the city.

"Viv's never had it so tough, and finds she must deploy every weapon in her arsenal to keep her team together and restore peace to a community wracked with political and xenophobic uncertainty."

No Offence began its run in 2015, and has since been nominated for a BAFTA for Best Drama Series.

No Offence airs on Channel 4.
