Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Brett Dalton is set to join the cast of Chicago Fire in season 10.

On Tuesday, November 2, TV Line confirmed that the actor, who played Grant Ward (and Hive) in the popular Marvel series, has been lined up to bring Jason Pelham to life, Firehouse 51's new interim lieutenant.

"Wait…I'm trending on Deadline? 🔥🔥🔥 Well this is a first! (And hopefully not the last)," Dalton wrote alongside a screenshot on Instagram, shortly after the news broke. "Tune in this week for my first episode on #chicagofire @nbconechicago . It's gonna be 🔥🔥🔥."

His on-screen introduction comes just a few weeks after long-standing cast member Jesse Spencer exited the show, as his character Captain Matt Casey left the titular city to go and take care of his late friend Andy Darden's sons in Oregon.

"It wraps up 10 years for me," the actor explained to Deadline at the time. "I think it was pretty organic that he's leaving and he's going for three years, but is he? We don't know. It's been a long time coming when you know how these compadres have gone through life and death together.

"It's hard to say goodbye, you know, see you soon, kind of thing. It was bittersweet but I really enjoyed it and we got some laughs out of it."

Stella, who recently passed her lieutenant exam, seems like the obvious choice, but will her prior commitments to Girls on Fire hinder her chances?
