Clever new AI tells you your celebrity lookalike instantly from a photo

If you’ve ever wondered whether you might resemble an A-list Hollywood star, or a glamorous model, there’s now a website which can tell you.

Although we must warn you that there’s also a good chance it’ll tell you you look like an unattractive and ancient character actor.

The site, Clarifai, uses AI to match faces uploaded to the site to their closest celebrity lookalike (this reporter was told, unflatteringly, that he resembled Rod Steiger).

The Clarifai AI software was shown off by Matthew Zeiler at the EmTech Digital conference in San Francisco this week.

The system has 10,000 celebrities stored – from Angelina Jolie to Morgan Freeman – and claims to match people with more than 90% confidence.

The system stores faces as a numerical code, based on 80 ‘nodes’ in people’s faces – and matches you to the celebrity whose number most closely matches yours.
