Cloak & Dagger star wants this TV crossover

From Digital Spy

Cloak & Dagger's Olivia Holt has said that she's rooting for a Jessica Jones crossover.

The 20-year-old actress plays reluctant superhero and dysfunctional teenager Tandy in the new and acclaimed Marvel series, which follows her mysterious relationship with fellow superhero Tyrone Johnson.

The series – which has already received glowing reviews – premieres on Amazon Prime in the UK on June 8, with Olivia revealing she'd love a Jessica Jones and Runaways crossover in the future.

"I really dig Jessica Jones, and I think it would be really fun for a crossover into that realm to happen," the former Disney star told Digital Spy.

"In one of the recent seasons, Jessica Jones mentions Cloak & Dagger in one of the scenes... I feel like it would be cool to do a crossover with Runaways too, only because we're all the same age and you don't see many young superheroes trying to learn how to use their powers."

Like Jessica Jones, Cloak & Dagger is a female-driven show, with Olivia reflecting on her character's different dimensions and complicated layers.

"It's a very feminist show, and I'm very grateful to play a character that has so many layers, and is strong and complicated, and bold and has all of these dimensions to her," she continued.

"That's what makes her interesting, and makes us women feel so attached to her and relate to her, as humans, we want to be able to connect to people we can relate to and empathise with."

And although the troubled Tandy and Aubrey Joseph's endearing Tyrone are inexplicably drawn to one another throughout season one, viewers shouldn't expect a blossoming romance between them just yet.

"It's very character driven – we do see the characters veer off onto their own individual path but realising that they always end up meeting right in the middle, and I think that's what the audience is going to notice each episode is," Olivia revealed.

"Their relationship with each other – it's very complicated. Where they both stand in each others lives maybe future episodes to come we'll still start talking about romance, but it's very platonic as of now, and more of a platonic energy, and a human connecting energy rather than a romantic one."

And on whether or not Tandy will be using her newfound superpower for good, Olivia teased: "I do think she wants to use them for good, but I don't think she knows why that's happened to her, or why she's still on this earth, which is why she is so cynical and messed up.

"And when she realises she has a form of light in her hand, it changes the game for her and she wants to use it for good, but we'll see where the story takes her..."

Cloak & Dagger debuts in the US on June 7, and will premiere on Amazon Prime in the UK on June 8.
