S Club 7 are reuniting – and they are set to go on tour

S Club 7, the pop group that dominated the airways in the late Nineties and early Noughties with major anthems such as Bring It All Back, Reach and Don’t Stop Movin’, is officially getting back together.

According to The Mail on Sunday, all seven members of the group are on board to reunite, with Simon Fuller, the man who originally created the pop band, apparently behind the comeback.

And for S Club fans, the news just keeps getting better, as The Mail on Sunday also reported that the stars are planning a massive tour.

Corners of the internet have already started buzzing with excitement, with one fan Tweeting, “The reunited SClub7 will surely be a sell-out,” another saying, “S Club 7 getting back together has already made this year. I used to kiss all of them good night on my bedroom poster I had when I was 7,” and a third saying, “@SClub7 is having a reunion tour! Omg! I never had a dream come true. Until the day I heard this news.”

The band, made up of members Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett, released four albums between 1999 and 2002, starred in a dozen TV shows, won and were nominated for numerous awards and created one film, before splitting in 2003 (Cattermole had left in June 2002).

S Club 7 reunited in November 2014 for BBC Children in Need, where they performed S Club Party, Reach, Bring It All Back and Don’t Stop Movin’.

Then in May 2015, the band went on a 12-stop British tour – their first concert tour in over a decade. There was so much demand for the pop act that a second date was added to their tour schedule in London, where they performed at The O2 Arena.

However, one hurdle standing in the way of any forthcoming multi-date tour is Jo O’Meara’s health: the pop singer, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007, has recently undergone surgery on her back. According to The Daily Mail, the 43-year-old had as many as four operations to try and reduce the pain she was experiencing.

Speaking to The Sun last week, O’Meara said: “Back surgery is so complex and every time they go in, they’re just weakening my back. I was absolutely petrified.

“The surgeons said there was a very good chance of permanent damage to the legs and that I might never dance again... I was thinking, ‘Well that’s me done then,’ because standing up on stage and singing Reach is kind of impossible if you can’t move.”

Fuller has previously also managed the Spice Girls, Annie Lennox, Steven Tyler, Amy Winehouse, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Will Young.
