Comedian Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown has cancelled his upcoming show in Oswaldtwistle due to an injury.

The show, scheduled at the Civic Arts Centre and Theatre this evening, has been cancelled by the comedian, whose real name is Royston Vasey, who says he cannot walk.

A statement released by the venue said: “Unfortunately, Roy Chubby Brown is cancelling his show this evening. He has injured his hip and cannot walk.

“We are busy contacting everyone, please do not ring us as we are trying to sort out a full house of people and contact everyone in order.

“This may take a while. We're really sorry.”

The Oswaldtwistle show has been rescheduled his show for December 23.

This comes days after one of the comedian's shows was cancelled by Lancaster City Council.

The gig was meant to take place at The Platform, in Marine Road Central, Morecambe, on August 19.

The council cancelled the performance saying there had been “concerns raised by the community”.

This came after an online petition which received 59 signatures had been launched to ban him from performing at the Morecambe venue.

Earlier this year, his gig at the The Muni Theatre in Colne was also cancelled.
