Coronation Street star Sair Khan hints Sally will support Yasmeen over Geoff

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Sair Khan has revealed that her character Alya Nazir will try to expose Geoff Metcalfe's true colours to everyone next week – and Sally seems to be listening closely.

Alya returns home from Spain to a troubling situation, as her gran Yasmeen has been arrested for lashing out at evil Geoff with a wine bottle.

Viewers will see Yasmeen attack Geoff in self-defence this Friday (May 1) after the vile villain finally pushes her too far.

When Geoff is rushed to hospital, Yasmeen is taken in for police questioning and is ultimately charged, despite Imran Habeeb's attempts to take control of the situation as her solicitor.

Speaking about Alya's dramatic return, Sair explained: "She heads straight to the police station and wants answers. Alya's truly shocked, but blames Geoff because she knows how twisted he is and how vulnerable her gran has been.

"But when Ryan tells her that Geoff is unconscious and Yasmeen might've killed him, the gravity of the situation really hits home.

"Alya lets rip about her feelings towards Geoff and her concerns that Yasmeen has been brainwashed after months of abuse. Although Imran is sympathetic, he has to follow the law and right now Yasmeen is admitting her guilt, so it doesn't matter if he believes Alya or not.

"Alya then takes matters into her own hands and goes to confront Geoff in hospital. She wants Sally and Tim to know about Geoff's various lies and deceits and how he's rinsed her family business.

"She's full of rage, but her outburst doesn’t impress DS Abney, who seems to be treating Geoff as the victim. She's led away by the police, but manages to catch Sally alone and begs her to realise that this is so out of character for Yasmeen. She plants a seed of doubt in Sally's mind about who Geoff really is."

Alya doesn't stop there, later paying a visit to the Rovers Return and spreading the word there about Geoff's evil nature.

Sair continued: "Alya wants to scream from the rooftops about who Geoff really is and what he's done to her gran. Imran makes a stark warning that ruining the credibility of any potential witnesses will do Yasmeen even more harm.

"Although Alya doesn't want to jeopardise her gran's bail hearing, she can't help but scold her gran's 'friends' about how they've failed Yasmeen. They've been witness to Geoff's belittling remarks and controlling behaviour but they all chose to ignore it."

Ultimately, Yasmeen is told that she's being denied bail – much to the delight of Tim, who has turned against her. However, this only makes Alya even more determined to prove Yasmeen's innocence.

Sair added: "Alya is truly shocked at Yasmeen being denied bail. She'd held onto hope that the truth would come out and justice would be served. She now realises that this is just the beginning of a long fight.

"She's angered but not surprised by Tim's reaction. The battle lines have been firmly drawn.

"Alya will stop at nothing to make sure the residents of Coronation Street find out what Geoff is really like. Her first plan is to find allies and she may just have found one in Sally."

Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
