‘Coronation Street’ tonight: Car crash drama as Abi’s escape fails
The stakes are high for all involved in Coronation Street, as the ITV soap — which airs tonight at the earlier time of 7.30pm — leaves two characters in mortal peril.
A week of dramatic episodes began with a flashforward which saw Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) leaving a revealing message over his incriminating behaviour. In the present, Abi Webster (Sally Carman) was preparing to flee the country with their baby son Alfie.

Viewers know that Imran recently lied in court, framing Abi for buying drugs so that he could win custody of the little boy. His wife Toyah (Georgia Taylor) currently has no idea of his deception or the lengths he has driven Abi to.
Feeling desperate after a failed attempt to expose the truth, Abi bought dodgy passports and confided in estranged husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) who gave her his blessing.
Kevin ensured that Abi had access to Alfie by temporarily preventing Toyah’s car from working properly. But just as Abi was all set to leave, Imran arrived at the flat.
His former foster daughter, Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) had called him out over his lies, prompting him to try and make peace with Abi. But Imran was stopped in his tracks when he spotted the packed suitcase and fake passports.

As Corrie returns tonight, this game-changing cliffhanger will be first on the agenda. But with Imran’s conscience finally kicking in, how will he react to Abi’s scheming?
Whatever happens, it’s clear that Abi’s exit strategy has been destroyed. As the episode progresses, we can tease that Toyah will express an intention to go to the police — but why?
With Imran vowing to come clean at the same time, is this tied up in his wife’s decision; or is Abi set to be in the firing line?
There’s an even bigger mystery lurking around the corner, though, as Imran and Toyah will be seen injured and unconscious following a car crash.

The cause and consequences of the wreckage will remain to be seen, but is it linked to what Kevin did to the car?
Meanwhile, what are Imran, Abi and Toyah’s movements leading up to the accident? So many questions, with limited clues — but there are unmissable scenes on the way.
Actor Carman continues to shine as the tormented Abi, while co-star Le Vell puts in an equally strong performance.
Tune in to Coronation Street tonight at 7.30pm as events take another tense turn.
