Coronation Street's Abi makes another bad decision after baby setback

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Abi Webster heads on another sad downward spiral tonight (March 11).

Abi has faced a turbulent few days after unexpectedly discovering that she was pregnant and giving birth to a baby boy.

Earlier this week, Abi was told that she had a tough fight on her hands if she wanted to keep her child, who was born three months early.

Abi's history of addictions and her decision to abandon her baby at the hospital could all count against her with social services.

In Friday's episode, a new day for Abi gets off to a bad start when she receives a visit from the police in the wake of Dean Turnbull's recent car theft.

After speaking to the officers, a stressed Abi shows them out – then heads off to score more drugs.

Abi seems to have given up on the possibility of raising the baby herself, recognising that the odds are stacked against her. At her lowest ebb, will she go ahead and take the drugs?

Sally Carman, who plays Abi, recently promised that her character will try her best to focus on her son in the coming weeks.

This will involve accepting moral support from Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) and legal advice from Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo). Toyah still has no idea that Imran is the baby's father.

Sally told Digital Spy and other media: "[Abi would] love it to just be her and Alfie. They could start afresh. She could prove to herself that she can be a good mum and provide a loving, safe environment – and right a lot of wrongs through doing that.

"I don't think Abi wants Imran involved in any way, but she's utterly grateful that he's helping her to keep Alfie, because on paper, it doesn't look good and it's very unlikely.

"But the more Imran helps out, she realises that he does have her and Alfie's best interests at heart, so she's open to him being involved."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
