Coronation Street's Max makes suspicious apology

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street teen Max Turner desperately tries to move on with his life tonight (February 21), but it may be easier said than done.

Max was recently revealed as the person responsible for Amy Barlow's (Elle Mulvaney) spiking ordeal on Valentine's Day.

Last Friday's hour-long episode saw Max confess to his stepdad David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) that he'd tried to target Daniel Osbourne's drink in a new revenge plan.

A mix-up with the glasses led to Amy picking up the wrong drink and subsequently collapsing outside a nightclub.

In Monday's double bill, David and Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) are both still reeling from Max's confession.

Shona takes control of the situation by ordering Max to apologise to Daniel (Rob Mallard) for everything he has put him through over the past few months, hoping this will put an end to it.

Max goes ahead and approaches Daniel in the café, saying that he's sorry for causing him so much grief.

He also reveals that he'll be back in school the following week. David had previously vowed to keep Max at home, initially fearing that a predator was among the students when he first heard about the spiking incident.

Taken aback by Max's sudden apology, will Daniel grow suspicious or miss the clues to his guilt?

Paddy Bever, who plays Max, recently explained: "I think Daniel will always represent a very negative time for Max but this has gone too far now, even for Max.

"His vendetta against Daniel has taken him to lengths that I don't think he saw himself going to and I don't think he likes the person that has done this. He doesn't like the version of himself that has hurt someone so badly.

"I think it will make Max more self aware, he'll continue to do what Max does which is cause trouble but whether that will be aimed towards Daniel I don't think so, I hope this has taught Max a lesson."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
