Corrie fans delighted Emily Bishop is back in the UK
Coronation Street's Emily Bishop has returned from her travels after two years away from the screen.
In Wednesday night's second episode, Ken Barlow revealed to Sophie Webster that Emily – played by the legendary Eileen Derbyshire – had returned to the UK to take care of her sickly niece Freda Burgess, after going to Peru in January 2016.
Fans were delighted to hear that Corrie resident Emily was back in the country. The actress had in fact wanted to take a break from acting for a few years, but could this mean she's on her way back to the soap?
Emily? Did someone say Emily? Is Mrs Bishop coming back? If so, would be wonderful! #EmilyBishop #Corrie #coronationstreetblog

Back in 2016 on New Year's Day, Emily left to begin new adventures in Peru alongside her nephew Geoffrey 'Spider' Nugent. She had decided to leave with him to help with his environmental charity work.
#Corrie Now Emily is back from Peru, I bet Weatherfield Police nick her for vandalising Kev's garage.

Viewers are keen to see the star return to the cobbles after spending so much time away.
It was reported in November 2016 that the actress may never return. But the show soon confirmed this wasn't true.
Regardless of her absence, Emily Bishop is a treasure to the show. After all, she is the second longest-serving character, following Ken Barlow.
