Julia Bradbury has hit back at trolls who claimed she looked too thin in a recent bikini picture.

The Countryfile star, 50, came in for some criticism after posting a picture on Instagram showing her sunbathing.

Several people said she looked too skinny or ill and urged her to eat something, while one warned that bones were not a good look.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, Bradbury said some of the comments were not constructive at all but were “purely nasty”.

She told host Lorraine Kelly: “Here's the problem, I have a skinny collarbone. I can't do anything about that. People saying, ‘She needs a bag of chips’ - I don't think a bag of chips is going straight to your collarbones, or even a dirty burger, or anything else that you could eat!

“It is a serious problem though.”

The TV star said that although she was “quite thick skinned” and knew how to cope with such trolling, others may not be.

“I am fairly confident, I am alright, I can deal with it,” said the mother-of-three.

“But there are a lot of people out there with mental health issues, with body issues.

"And the fact is that sometimes there can be one comment and it could just get somebody the wrong way and really affect them.”
