Presenter Holly Willoughby poked fun at ITV colleague Piers Morgan during last night’s episode of Dancing on Ice.

Introducing Rebekah Vardy as one of the show’s contestants, Willoughby and co-host Phillip Schofield played a selection of clips which included an interview with Morgan on Good Morning Britain last year.

Before the video was shown, Willoughby said: “Viewers of a sensitive nature should be aware that the following clips contain a heart-stopping move, an eye-watering injury and...Piers Morgan.”

Schofield then joked: “My eyes! My eyes!”

Viewers seemed to enjoy the quip at the expense of Morgan, with one person writing: “They really went, ‘Trigger Warning – PIERS MORGAN’.”

Another posted “crying laughing” emojis alongside the joke: “It involves piers Morgan. Schofe - My eyes my eyes. #DancingOnIce.”

Former newspaper editor Morgan is a divisive figure among the British public. Last month, comedian James Acaster told Lorraine Kelly to “go f*** yourself” after naming Morgan her “hero of 2020” on a Channel 4 comedy show.

Morgan then responded to Acaster’s remarks, calling him a “pasty-faced weasel”.

Elsewhere on last night’s (17 January) episode of Dancing on Ice, contestant Rufus Hound called out the UK government for its handling of the free school meals scandal.

“Mate, we live in a world where people we elect don't want to feed hungry children,” Hound told Schofield, in a comment which was praised by many on social media.

Dancing on Ice continues on Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
