DC's Black Lightning is coming to Netflix in the UK

Fans of DC TV series can be rest assured that Black Lightning IS coming to the UK.

The latest in the long line of CW superhero series sees Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce, a retired superhero with the ability to control electricity, who returns to crime-fighting in order to save the community he loves.

Episodes of the first season of Black Lightning – set to be 13 episodes long – will be available on Netflix UK every Tuesday from January 23, 2018.

China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Christine Adams, James Remar, and Damon Gupton are among the stars who also feature on the show.

Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III is also a series regularis also a series regular, playing a Batman villain in the form of Tobias Whale.

However, Black Lightning is not part of the DC TV universe, alongside the likes of Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow.

For now, anyway.

CW president Mark Pedowitz said: "If [the showrunners] wish to bring it in, that is their call. We had a long discussion with the studio, Mara [Brock Akil], Salim [Akil] and myself.

"We were fine with them making it separate from the Arrowverse, they have a different point a view. If they end up wanting to go that way, that will be their decision."

Originally developed for Fox, The CW picked up Black Lightning in the spring.
