Deadwood revival movie unveils cast as filming begins

From Digital Spy

12 years after the show wrapped up, Deadwood's revival movie has finally started shooting.

As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, most of the cast have returned for the film.

That includes: Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant, Molly Parker, Paula Malcomson, John Hawkes, Anna Gunn, W Earl Brown, Dayton Callie, Brad Dourif, Robin Weigert, William Sanderson, Kim Dickens and Gerald McRaney.

THR also says that Jade Pettyjohn, famous for the Nickelodeon TV series version of School of Rock, is joining the cast as a new character.

Behind the camera, Daniel Minahan will direct the film after helming four episodes of the show, while creator David Milch has written the script.

HBO is hoping for a spring 2019 release, which would make it a pretty quick turnaround, so we'll see how that pans out.

The movie will take place 10 years after we left all the characters, and will see everyone reunite in South Dakota. As you might expect, it won't be all fun and friendly.

Dan Dority actor W Earl Brown previously said of the script: "The hour-and-half it took me to read was f**king thrilling and f**king heartbreaking.

"I was sitting on an airplane, cheering and crying as I took a journey that only David Milch could create. I've read the Deadwood film script. It's stunning."

Are we allowed to get excited yet? Because we are.
