Yahoo News Does Only Fools and Horses have a death curse?
Only Fools and Horses might be one of the best British sitcoms, well, ever, but star Sir David Jason remembers something a little more sinister about the series.
Reflecting on his co-stars and crew members, Sir David reveals in his upcoming memoir that he believes the show had a death curse, after the team lost four of their own 'prematurely'.
Comparing it to the curse of Dad's Army, David writes (in an excerpt via The Sun): "Surely the less noticed 'Curse of Only Fools' runs it a close second."
Noting series creator John Sullivan's death in 2011, David remembered Roger Lloyd Pack (Trigger) and Buster Merryfield (Uncle Albert), who died in 2014 and 1999 respectively.
"Kenneth MacDonald, that sweet, kind man who was Mike, the landlord of the Nag's Head, died of a heart attack on holiday with his family in 2001 at the unfairly premature aged of 50," he added.
Even with Only Fools' so-called 'death curse', fans are still eagerly anticipating the arrival of a never-before-seen episode next month.
'Licensed to Drill' was shot in 1984, and was also the last to be filmed by the late Lennard Pearce, who played Grandad, before he passed away.
In the ep, Del Boy tanks yet another get-rich-quick scheme when he buys an oil rig, only to realise there's not much oil in Peckham and he's been massively conned. Typical.
Scenes from the episode will debut on television as part of The Story of Only Fools and Horses, airing Tuesdays at 8pm until October 3,which is when the 'new' scenes will be shown.
