The Duchess of Cambridge takes her style cues from Princess Diana in latest appearance

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a look today that was reminiscent of one worn by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

For a joint appearance with Prince William, Kate wore a floor-length red coat (which is believed to be a custom Alexander McQueen offering), kept her accessories black and muted and her newly-lightened hair perfectly coiffed.

While she has championed the colour red for years, Kate's look today mirrored the scarlet Catherine Walker offering which the late Princess of Wales wore in 1984 on a visit to Birmingham.

In a similar vein, Kate has also regularly endorsed Catherine Walker's pieces during her public appearances, most recently in another red ensemble for the Commonwealth Day service in March of this year.

Catherine Walker & Co is a British couture house that was founded in 1977 by Catherine Walker and her husband Said Cyrus. Since Walker's death in 2010, Cyrus has been at the helm of the brand. Walker reportedly created more than 1,000 outfits for Prince William's late mother.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked the launch of the Hold Still 2020 lockdown photography exhibition with engagements in London today, as examples of the entries go on display across the country.
