Eamonn Holmes pays tribute after death of his 'beautiful' mum

Eamonn Holmes has paid tribute to his "beautiful" mum after she passed away.

The GB News star, 62, posted a photograph of his mother Josie on Instagram as he shared the sad news with his fans.

It showed her standing at the front door and waving goodbye.

Holmes, whose dad Leonard passed away in 1991, wrote: "My 4 amazing brothers and I said Goodbye for the last time to our beautiful Mum Josie this afternoon.

"She's at last reunited with Daddy now. That is our only consolation."

"We loved and will miss her so much," added the star, who is currently recovering after a back op.

"Every time I visited her she came to the door to bless me with Holy Water and Wave goodbye.

"Now sadly it really is Goodbye Mummy x."

Holmes - who is married to This Morning star Ruth Langsford - was inundated with condolence messages from fans and celebrity friends after announcing his mum's death.

"I’m so sorry to hear this sending you love," wrote Katie Price.

Actor Emily Atack said she was "sending loads of love", while broadcaster Huw Edwards posted: "Love and sympathy."

"Oh thinking of you and your family hun xx," said Loose Women star Judi Love.

"Love to you all Eamon," said Countryfile star Julia Bradbury. "Sad sad Xx."

"Oh I am so very sorry," said TV star Gaby Roslin. "Sending you love and my deepest sympathies to you and your family."

TV and radio presenter Nicki Chapman posted: "I’m so sorry Eamonn - I know you were very close. Sending my love to you and all your family."
