EastEnders has dropped a big bombshell over Keanu Taylor's future in the Square.

Keanu (Danny Walters) is lucky to be alive after getting injured in the fallout of the Hunter Owen shooting spree in Walford last week, although his and Louise's (Tilly Keeper) relief was short-lived since he was still under arrest.

Fans will remember that Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) had framed Keanu for attacking his dad Phil, with the truth never actually coming out before all of the drama with Hunter unfolded.

In Tuesday's episode (September 10), Louise tried to pull some leverage over her family by refusing to move back home unless Ben cleared Keanu's name with police.

"You need to tell the police that you're gonna change your statement. That you didn't see Keanu," Phil insisted when he visited Ben in hospital.

Surprisingly, Ben was one step ahead of his dad: "I've just spoken to them. I said I was confused. CPS don't have enough evidence to charge him anymore, so he's off the hook."

But he warned: "Don't think me and Keanu are gonna be BFFs now because that ain't gonna happen, dad."

At the same time, Lisa (Lucy Benjamin) was making plans to secretly escape with Mel, Louise and Keanu to Portugal, but was discouraged when Louise announced that she'd being moving back in with Phil after all.

Keanu was eventually discharged from the hospital for a big celebration with the Taylors, but it remains to be seen how he'll get along living under one roof with Phil and Sharon at the Mitchell house.

Earlier this week, BBC Head of Continuing Drama Kate Oates promised some fireworks for Sharon and Keanu over the Christmas period.

"Sheanu is going to blow up," Kate Oates told Digital Spy and other media at a recent EastEnders press screening. "I think it's safe to say that's going to be pretty big at Christmas time..."

EastEnders continues on Thursday (September 12) at 7.30pm.
