EastEnders' Frankie to be arrested in Mick and Katy aftermath

From Digital Spy

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders airs a sad arrest scene for Frankie Lewis next week as she becomes the latest character to be affected by her mother Katy's manipulation.

Frankie (Rose Ayling-Ellis) heads back to Albert Square in the wake of the BBC soap's emotional New Year's Day episode, which saw Mick finally confide in his wife Linda about Katy's abuse.

In next week's episodes, Katy is on edge when Frankie arrives home.

Katy offers Frankie a big new opportunity, explaining that she wants her to move on with her life. Frankie doesn't believe this is the real reason for the gesture and is deeply suspicious over her mum's behaviour.

Speaking about the scenes, Simone Lahbib – who plays Katy – explained: "When Frankie becomes aware and starts to understand who and what her mum is, she is now a danger to Katy.

"With Mick she couldn't care less if he lives or dies, but it's different with her daughter so she comes up with the next best thing. She hopes her plan will eliminate Frankie as a liability to Katy."

Frankie is left in turmoil over Katy's actions and heads back to the Square in the hope of seeing Mick.

Linda is home instead and encourages Frankie not to wait for Mick's return. She doesn't want to burden Mick, so offers her number to Frankie for the time being.

Although Linda believes that she's doing the right thing for Mick's recovery, Frankie is left feeling more alone and rejected than ever.

Frankie ends up getting drunk at the Prince Albert, where her friends Ben Mitchell and Callum Highway realise she's in a bad way.

An emotional Frankie crosses the line by brutally attacking a man at the bar, getting herself arrested.

Asked whether Katy is aware of Frankie's struggles, Simone replied: "I think Katy finds it very difficult to think about anyone else other than herself. Her empathy is very limited, if there at all, so how Frankie's feeling and the fact that she's struggling isn't really on Katy's radar, as awful as that sounds.

"She would only become aware of it if it becomes something that might expose her."

EastEnders airs these scenes on Thursday, January 7 at 7.35pm and Friday, January 8 at 8pm on BBC One.
