EastEnders' Ruby Allen to lie about Stacey in accident aftermath

From Digital Spy

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders' Stacey Slater will be left horrified in the aftermath of Ruby Allen's accident.

Ruby (Louisa Lytton) took a tumble down the stairs amid a fight with Stacey last night, but it's led her husband Martin to believe that's how she lost their baby.

In reality, Ruby suffered a tragic miscarriage the day before – but couldn't bring herself to tell Martin what had happened.

Despite Martin's objections, a frail Ruby gets ready for work as normal in Monday's episode, but is soon doubling over in pain.

Later at the hospital, the doctor tells Ruby she has been haemorrhaging from her miscarriage and will need a procedure. Ruby is distraught by the news, leaving Martin at a loss on how to support her.

On his way home, Martin is approached by a guilt-ridden Stacey, who apologises for what happened.

She also applies the same apology to Ruby for the accident, but Ruby reacts by telling Martin and Kush it was Stacey who pushed her down the stairs.

Stacey is left horrified by Ruby's lies and begs Martin and Kush to believe that she didn't do it.

Refusing to stop there, Ruby goes on to reveal that Stacey had locked her in her office and made her do a pregnancy test.

Although Kush tries to explain his part in the plan, Martin isn't having any of it and punches Kush.

As Ruby continues to lie about what really happened, she finds herself being confronted by Stacey's young daughter Lily, who insists that it wasn't her mum's fault. Will Ruby come clean?

Speaking about next week's episodes, Louisa Lytton – who plays Ruby – said: "I'm not sure that Ruby knows what Lily knows – she doesn't really know that Ruby is lying as such. But Lily is another add on of Stacey and she's another person that Ruby's got a battle against and has to win over."

Confirming that Ruby's loss will be explored further, Louisa added: "There's reasons behind her miscarriage, which become a thing and that makes her the most sad.

"She has lost what could have been a family unit finally for her and I guess she's sort of come to terms with the fact that she actually wants a baby. She went through all that to get there and now it's been taken away from her."

EastEnders airs these scenes on Monday, March 1 and Thursday, March 4 on BBC One.
