Danny Dyer has landed his first acting gig since quitting 'EastEnders.'

The 44-year-old actor will be leaving his role as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in the BBC soap opera later this year and has now reportedly landed a part in an upcoming drama for Channel 5 .

A source The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: “Bosses are really excited to be bringing Danny Dyer to Channel 5. They’ve been in talks for months trying to make it work around his already busy schedule."

The source also revealed that upon being offered the role Danny spoke to co-star Charlie Brooks - who plays Janine Butcher on 'EastEnders' - as she had had a "great time" working on 'Lie With Me' for the broadcaster back in 2021.

The source added: "When the offer came in from Channel 5 about starring in a new drama, Danny spoke to Charlie who gushed about what a great time she had filming ‘Lie With Me’. Everyone is very much looking forward to having him on board, and of course it’s a great move by Channel 5 to have him fronting one of their dramas."

The source went on to explain that the four-part series will be filmed in Australia later this year and Channel 5 are "really looking forward" to working with him.

The insider added: "Danny is a big name for Channel 5 and they are thrilled that he’s agreed to do the drama. The details are currently being finalised but he will be flying out to Australia later this year to film the four-part series. Everyone is looking forward to having him on board.

Channel 5 began to launch original drama series back in 2019 with 'Cold Call' - which starred ex-'Corrie' actress Sally Lindsay as a woman who falls victim to a scam phone call - and more recently received acclaim for 'The Teacher', which saw Sheridan Smith star as a secondary school teacher caught up in a sex crime allegation.
