The seven-episode series begins streaming on Netflix on Friday, 19 August.

Netflix is releasing the entire series of Echoes at once, so you won't need to wait to find out all of the show's twists and turns.

Who plays the twins in Echoes?

Although the drama centres on a pair of identical twins, there is only actually one actor playing both roles of Leni and Gina.

Michelle Monaghan, best known for her roles in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Gone Baby Gone and Pixels, plays the twins.

Starring alongside her are Matt Bomer, Daniel Sunjata, Ali Stroker and Karen Robinson.

What happens in Echoes?

Echoes begins with the strange premise that identical twins Leni and Gina have been living the same double life for the whole of their adult lives.

In this watch-in-a-weekend thriller, once a year on their birthday, they perform a switch in a strange ceremony that sees them swap lives again for another year.

One is married to a rancher in Virginia and has a daughter, the other is married to a therapist in LA, but unknown to anyone but themselves, they've been sharing husbands and child for years.

However, things are set to get even stranger when one twin goes missing, upsetting the balance of the whole delicate existence they've built and calling a number of suspects into question.

While one twin might seem more reliable than the other to begin with, living in such a fragmented way for so long has left both women apparently unsure of how much each personality is truly their own.

Expect plenty of twists and turns - with the way reportedly left open for a possible series two in future.
