Eddie Marsan makes dig at Trump supporting Ray Donovan co-star Jon Voight

Eddie Marsan made a pointed dig at his Ray Donovan co-star Jon Voight, a famous supporter of Donald Trump, amid the US presidential election.

The British actor starred opposite Voight in the US drama, which was cancelled in February. He played Terry, the older brother of Liev Schreiber's lead character, who are the sons of Voight's character, Mickey.

As America voted at the 2020 election, which saw Trump take on Joe Biden, Marsan shared a message to his US fans.

"Hey America, I know this is the most important election ever & the survival of your democratic institutions and the soul of America is at stake but...can we just take it back to me for a second," he tweeted on Tuesday (3 November).

"Please vote for Joe Biden,  I can’t spend another four years listening to this bulls***."

He then posted a still from the show of his character sat down looking fed up as Voight's character stands over him.

Marsan undoubtedly meant the dig in jest considering, in 2018, he tweeted: "Jon Voight is a friend of mine and a colleague of many years who I happen to disagree with politically."

Voight, the father of Angelina Jolie, has long been a supporter of Trump, who is being criticised for falsely claiming victory and suggesting he would ask the Supreme Court to halt all vote-counting.

Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan branded the president "appalling".

Both Trump and Biden have won key states in what has become a tighter election race than polls had suggested.
