Ella Eyre has recorded a new version of Don’t You Want Me by The Human League
(Google’s Nest Audio Sessions)Ella Eyre has resorted to recording tracks during lockdown under a duvet in her cupboard.
The 26-year-old London singer released her first ever Christmas track on Friday - a new version of 80s classic Don’t You Want Me by The Human League.
The track Google will be launching Nest Audio Sessions: Christmas Number 1s - a series of live performances by four top UK artists where they will reimagine their favourite Christmas Number 1s from the comfort of their homes.
Eyre admitted she has had to adapt to recording from home.
“I am useless with technology,” she said. “I have had to learn how to produce my own vocals and it is very complicated but manageable. For sound, I have been recording under a duvet in my cupboard. My neighbours must love me, singing the same thing over and over again.”

Google’s Nest Audio SessionsSpeaking about her track, she said: “I am a big fan of taking a cover [track] and doing it your way. I thought it would be a nice opportunity to do something festive. I have never done my own Christmas song before so it was something nice to be involved with.
“The original song is very pop and very 80s - so it was nice to slow it down and give it a winter-y feel.”
BRIT Award winners and platinum selling rock band, Bastille have also recorded a track.
Dan Smith from Bastille said: “We loved having the opportunity to get together to work on our version of a Christmas classic for Nest Audio Sessions Christmas Number 1s. It was loads of fun on the day and definitely got us all in the Christmas spirit."
Last month, Eyre appeared on the BBC Children In Need’s charity single, which featured stars including Cher and Nile Rodgers.
More than 20 artists have joined forces for a star-studded cover of the Oasis ballad Stop Crying Your Heart Out to help support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
The official video for the charity track was unveiled during the live show for BBC Children In Need.
Kylie Minogue, Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith, and Jamie Cullum also featured in the video.
