Elon Musk has denounced Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor as a “crybaby” after he quit Twitter.

The richest man in the world and controversial Twitter owner criticised Reznor after the NIN said he was “ready to depart” the social media site last weekend and described Musk’s takeover as an “embarrassment”.

“We don’t need the arrogance of the billionaire class to feel like they can just come in and solve everything,” he said. “Even without him involved, I just find that it has become such a toxic environment. For my mental health, I need to tune out. I don’t feel good being there anymore.”

While Reznor has come good on his promise, it seems that Musk won’t be ruing his exit anytime soon. He has controversially reopened Donald Trump’s Twitter account following an online poll (although he is yet to tweet again), as well as reversing Kanye West’s suspension for anti-semitic posts.

“It turns out that Trent ‘nine inch nails’ Reznor is a crybaby,” Musk replied to one user.

When another described Reznor as “one of the best musicians ever”, Musk replied: “I like his music tbh, but maybe Etsy is more his style.”

Jack White also quit the platform over the weekend, describing Trump’s return as “absolutely disgusting” and “an asshole move”.

Musk’s time in charge of Twitter has been marked by internal drama and rumours that the site could collapse after he sacked a high proportion of engineering staff.

Earlier this month, he also controversially scrapped Twitter’s working from home policy and ordered staff to return to the office, days after he fired a staggering 3,700 employees.

In an email to staff, Musk said that employees faced an “arduous” road ahead and should be prepared for “intense work to succeed”.
