Emma Willis ‘overwhelmed’ by reaction to photo of her 'open-minded' son

Emma Willis was "overwhelmed" by the reaction she got after sharing a photo of her son Ace to Instagram earlier in the week.

The mother-of-three posted a picture of the eight-year-old sporting a cropped pink top, low rise jeans, pink trainers and shoulder length blond hair prompting some to celebrate the "breaking of gender stereotypes".

The former Big Brother host addressed the comments on Good Morning Britain on Friday, explaining that Ace is an "open-minded boy" but that she had also received some negative remarks.

She said: “I was really overwhelmed actually. It’s just my son in a pink top. And for me that’s kind of normality.

"He loves colour, he’s always had long hair and he’s a very free and open-minded boy who doesn’t really… he’s like, ‘Why do I have to dress in green and blue and grey if I like pink and red and purple – why isn’t that OK?’

"He’s kind of always been that way. We, I think, are trying to raise him as a very open-minded and inclusive individual. There was a couple of negative bits, but the block button is a great thing.”

In her original caption for the photo, she praised her son as a "style icon".

Willis, 44, also shares daughters Isabelle, 11, and Trixie, four, with husband Matt Willis.

While the couple's children do sometimes feature on their social media platforms, they have chosen to not reveal their faces.

The presenter recently appeared on White Wine Question Time alongside pal Giovanna Fletcher to discuss how they deal with their hormones as they get older.

“As you get older, I do I find I am much more hormonal,” admitted Willis. “I still feel like my hormones are getting more severe as I get older.

“Before my period, the moodiness... Maybe Matt would say, I'm hinged! I'm much more emotional around that time, but that's a huge part of it.”
